At Genzink Steel, we combine the skill, science, and technology of welding into a complete management program that features the following:
• Weld Engineering - Genzink Steel Employs threee degreed Welding Engineers who develop and manage Genzink Steel’s Total Welding Management System.
- At minimum, all welders are certified in FCAW in the 3G position to AWS D1.1 prior to performing any welding on customer fabrications.
- When required by customer specifications or specific welding code, Procedure Qualification Records, Welder Performance Qualifications, and Welding Procedure Specifications are created and validated by in-house or third party AWS Certified Welding Inspectors.
- All welding and related operations are controlled by Welding Procedure Specifications.
- All welding completed is traceable back to the individual welder by means of welder stamps or our E.R.P. system.
• Welding Machine Calibration – All weld machines are regularly calibrated to a welder load cell.
• In-Process Inspection – All fabrications are dimensionally inspected at initial “fit-up”, and are visually inspected after final welding by a Production Supervisor.
• Inspection Training – All welding and related personnel have undergone Visual Inspection Training, based on AWS D1.1 table 6.1.
• Follow-up Inspection – Blast and paint departments have been trained in AWS Visual Inspection criteria and perform back-up visual inspections.
• CWI’s – Genzink Steel employs two AWS Certified Welding Inspectors.
• Work Cell Organization – We have implemented Lean Manufacturing tools, including 5S, in the individual welder’s work cells to keep the area neat, clean, and efficient.
