Sue Rollins
Quality Manager

Genzink Steel’s Quality Management System is all inclusive:

 •  100% material trace ability.  All material in the building is
     certified and traced.

 •  At minimum, all welders are certified in FCAW in the 3G position      to AWS D1.1 prior to performing any welding on customer      fabrications.

 •  All welding and related operations are controlled by Welding      Procedure Specifications

 •  100% of our welds have Procedure Qualification Records (PQR)

 •  In-Process Inspection – All fabrications are dimensionally      inspected at initial “fit-up”, and are visually inspected after      final welding by a Production Supervisor

 •  Inspection Training – All welding and related personnel have      undergone Visual Inspection Training, based on AWS D1.1 table      6.1.

 •  Follow-up Inspection – Blast and paint departments have been      trained in AWS Visual Inspection criteria and perform back-up      visual inspections.

A Consistent and Monitored System

Every project follows a common documented process through Contract Review, Estimating, Order Entry, Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality Control and Shipping.

Non-conformances are documented through an electronic tracking system for Non-Conformance Reports (NCR’s).  Our response is immediate.  All customer quality issues and repeating internal issues are assigned Corrective Action Requests (CAR’s) for permanent resolution.

NCR trends, scrap and rework costs are reported to the entire company personnel monthly.  Quality Management is a company-wide commitment.

Safety

Our safety program is reviewed annually by an independent outside loss control agency.  Our most recent score:  98%

We track the much more rigorous OSHA Recordable Rate rather than the Time Since Last Lost Accident measurement. For the past several years, Genzink Steel has achieved OSHA Recordable Rates of less than half of our industry average.

This outstanding track record is achieved through pre-employment training and on-going awareness, including monthly reviews of all OSHA Recordables and Near Misses with the entire company personnel.
